Preflight
Before filing a flight plan,
weather information
is collected. The
airport’s air traffic control tower gives a route clearance to the plane and
allows it to fly. While an aircraft is at the
airport,
the pilots keep contact with the controllers of the
control tower of the
airport.
The tower indicates pilot that which taxiways they should use to
take off.
Traffic controllers take care of every thing till the aircraft is on ground and give it permission to
take off.
In the air
Once
an aircraft leaves around some miles beyond the airport, the control of
the plane is transferred to a radar system which tracks aircraft’s progress
through the airways system. During this phase, the aircraft has to follow an
assigned route and altitude it is directed.
Each controller is responsible
for a set of aircraft in set domain of airspace.
When a plane reaches the edge of a particular domain,
their control is handed over to next domain controller. This process is followed until the aircraft’s journey is handed over to the controller of the
destination airport.
Descent
When plan is around 50 miles from
destination airport, it is handed to destination’s controller
Landing
The flight lands once the local
controller issues clearance for landing. The aircraft is then handed to the ground
controller who directs the pilot to the
taxiways of the destination gate.
